Talk About Trust Alcohol Training and resources for schools- a Train the Trainer workshop

• A 2 hour Talk About Alcohol (TAA) training session for staff, looking at evaluated resources for use with 11-18 year olds, older for those young people with SEND.
• The course aims to improve staff confidence in delivering effective alcohol education to young people.

Description of session 

The session will look at ways to deliver the 6 evaluated sessions covering:

• assessment
• alcohol and its effects, (both social and physical)
• alcohol and the law
• units and guidelines
• staying safe

There is a strong emphasis on games, activities, social norms, teaching positive approaches and resilience that engage young people around alcohol and the issues they face as they get older.  The sessions are fun, interactive and engaging.

Outcomes

• a detailed overview of the TAA resources focusing on the evaluated sessions (including activities in the activity box and those online).
• a hands-on experience of using the resources
• the knowledge of a social norms teaching approach
• increased confidence delivering alcohol education
• an awareness of how parents influence young people's behaviour around alcohol
• a fully funded resource pack
