EAL Hub Meeting
- The half termly EAL hub meetings provide EAL Co-ordinators and staff working with EMA and EAL pupils with the opportunity to meet with colleagues who have a similar role in order to share good practice and to learn and enthuse from each other.
At each hub meeting, teaching and learning advisers facilitate and deliver training which focuses on supporting the pastoral and well-being needs of EMA pupils as well as their academic progress and success.
The agenda is driven by local and national updates as well as requests from school staff. The agenda is confirmed and emailed to those booked to attend the meetings as well as named EAL/ EMA led staff members in schools prior to the meetings along with any prior reading.

Erica Field, School Improvement Officer / Whole School and College Approach – Mental Health, Rochdale Borough Council
I qualified as a teacher in 1999 and have been a class teacher, Head of Department and Head of Sixth Form. I also worked with London Challenge to support failing schools. I joined Rochdale School Improvement Team in 2009, where my role is to support schools in meeting the needs of their ethnic minority and English as Additional Language children and young people.
I am an accredited ELKLAN tutor and a local authority moderator for KS1 and KS2. I also run the Rochdale Schools Linking programme, which aims to break down barriers and to enable students to build empathy, respect and confidence in contact.
I am passionate about supporting schools to help children and young people access and engage in the curriculum.
