Designated teachers for cared for Children network

  • Rochdale Virtual School would like to welcome you to attend the Termly Designated Teachers Network sessions.
  • The sessions aim to provide support, advice, guidance and bespoke training to assist you in championing the needs of Rochdale’s cared for children and removing barriers to learning

This session will enable you the opportunity to come along and meet Rochdale’s new Virtual School Head Teacher and be an opportunity to hear about and dicuss the Virtual Schools plans for 24/25. The Autumn term session will  also focus on the implementation and impact of Alternative Provision to support cared for children. Guest speakers for this session will include two of Rochdale Educational psychologist, who have recently undertaken a research project to identify how and when the use of AP demonstrates the most significant impact upon engagement with education. We will also be sharing information about a range of AP providers and providing updates on the current DfE guidance and AP framework.

Christopher Tyler (Virtual Headteacher, RMBC)

Christopher Tyler

Christopher is Virtual Head Teacher of our Virtual School. The school supports our Cared for Children (Looked After Children), previously Cared for and those with a social worker. He’s worked here since 2015, before which he was VHT for Staffordshire. He has worked for the National Strategies’ ‘Narrowing the Gap’ team and led Manchester’s vulnerable and mobile children team. He is a secondary English teacher by training and has worked extensively with marginalised and vulnerable children, including Gypsy Roma Traveller children and as a teacher for the Roberts’ Bros. Super Circus school.
