Emily Humphrey, School Improvement Officer, Early Help & Schools, Rochdale Borough Council

Emily Humphrey, Teaching and learning Adviser

I began my career as an EYFS teacher in a Rochdale primary school. I then became a Key Stage One teacher and unit leader, working as part of a senior leadership team, with responsibility for the English curriculum and children with English as an additional language across the school.

On joining the Rochdale School Improvement Team, I was trained to support schools through the national Improving Schools Programme. Since then, I have loved working with school staff from across the LA in the main areas of EYFS and Key Stage One, particularly working with children from ethnic minority groups and those who have English as an additional language.

It is a privilege to work with Rochdale schools to develop fun and exciting ways to provide children with engaging learning opportunities so that they enjoy school and reach their potential.
