Who Leads the Learning? Supporting both adult-led and child-led learning in EYFS
- Explore what constitutes an ‘effective’ interaction
- Discuss different strategies
- A wonderful opportunity to reflect on fundamental EYFS principles guided by an inspirational educationalist
Adult-led and child-led learning are not conflicting approaches in EYFS. Both are valuable and the role of the adult needs to adapt to support and extend children’s thinking in both contexts.
This course will enable practitioners to reflect on the purposes, expectations and outcomes of adult-led and child-led learning and explore the different benefits for both children and practitioners.
Delegates will:
• Explore what constitutes an ‘effective’ interaction.
• Consider the importance of the learning environment as a context for interactions.
• Examine how adults ‘tune-in’ to children’s current thinking in order to maintain their learning momentum.
• Discuss different strategies to employ when extending children’s learning in both adult-led and child-led situations.
• Observe DVD material to analyse how a range of practitioners make the most of both learning situations.
A wonderful opportunity to reflect on fundamental EYFS principles guided by an inspirational educationalist.
