This session builds on Elklan Primary 5-11 training
Explore the importance of Vocabulary for learning, relationships and emotional wellbeing; and will look at why some children struggle with word learning
Understand the three Tiers of Vocabulary and explore which to prioritise
Explore strategies and techniques to support Vocabulary learning – as a targeted intervention and through universal provision
This session is for those staff looking to build their digital logbook and experience for training or assessment on the Mountain Training Walking Pathway (Lowland Leader, Hill and Moorland Leader, Summer Mountain Leader)
As per the nature of the activity it can weather dependant.
The venue decision would be made a couple of days before the date, but would include venues that match the remit of the award for those in attendance. With the travel these could result in long days.
Developing reading and writing skills in KS1/KS2 and making choices around vocabulary - DATE CHANGED FROM 06.12.24 TO 13.12.24

Using proven strategies and updating existing teaching approaches the course will focus on developing teacher knowledge and confidence in the teaching of reading and writing.
We will explore ways in which these skills and approaches can be incorporated into day to day teaching.
The DSL network is a termly opportunity for DSL’s and safeguarding staff in school to come together to share learning and to catch up on all of the updates in the world of safeguarding in school.
Participants will have the opportunity to develop their understanding of fluency, examine how oracy can be developed using fluency games and become familiar with a range of games that can be adapted to consolidate and apply mental strategies.
